Rational

Rational

after reading the text about the creatures in the gloaming a particular thing about the ogres stood out to me, it was stated that "there they are often sought by the smaller Faeries of the Earth who bring them trades and provisions in the hopes they may avenge their aggrieved companions who have come to harm from the other Folk of the Gloaming." I liked this idea of a hired hit man like character in the gloaming, than after researching this i found a mythical creature from Manx mythology from the isle of man known as the Buggane, who is described as a fearsome ogre summoned by pixies to exact revenge on invaders who threatened their forest home.

with this settled I started to look into different animals that would help this creature in its endeavours to track down and eliminate or maim it target, through doing this i figured it would have to move quickly through all types of terrain, and it would have to be able to cover very large distances quickly, from more research i deduced that the human form would fit these needs the best, as humans are one of the best long distance runners in the world and yet still have the ability to climb swim and  jump thinks to being bipedal, one of the only other creature that are better distance runner than the human is the ostrich, this is thanks to a large ligament that when running snaps the foot back into place and propelling the creature forward, as this was such a unique yet effective design i added it to my buggane design

after many iterations of the head i settled on a cross between a bat and a lizard, the bat is a nocturnal creature with very poor eye sight but very good hearing which helped the buggane in its natural habitat but also helped to track its prey, and the lizard, especially the komodo dragon is already known as a creature that stalks it prey over long distances and can see incredibly well, so i added eyes and a mouth that were a little more like a lizard to make the most formidable creature possible

lastly is the colour, my buggane design is purple with a rough scaled appearance  with spots and  imperfections that act as camouflage in the undergrowth at night .
